Jason and I have been together for 6 years, 7 months, and 1 day as of this writing.  Yeah, guess I’m still counting.  We met at the tender age of 18, at Grinnell College.  While it wasn’t necessarily love at first site, we were best friends instantly, and it didn’t take too long for us to move on from there.  🙂  I have to admit, I made the first move, so it seemed only fitting that for our 5 year anniversary, I also decided to be the one to propose.  I didn’t get down on one knee or anything, but I did buy him a ring.  After a sushi date (our favorite) and my decision that it was too cold in the middle of October to go to Gasworks no matter how romantic it was (this thought process was in my head; Jason didn’t know my plans), we headed home.  I stopped him at the front door, though, letting him know that he couldn’t go in until he answered a question for me.  I think maybe he knew what was coming at that point…So I told him that he was my best friend and that I wanted to share the rest of my life with him and would he marry me (it came out basically that fast and run-on-sentence-y).  He just had this big smile and hugged me.  At which point I demanded an actual answer; I didn’t know what a hug meant.  And he said yes.  Best. Moment. Ever.

So, yeah, Jason is my best friend.  He’s been with me through a lot, helping with all of college, the death of my sister (and other best friend), grad school, and so much more.  He also loves cats and can cook, so I think I’m pretty set.  Oh, and what did he do for me for our 5-year?  He got me a pink Nintendo DS.  Which was perfect.  🙂
